Short 50 words

Hotel Bostan is a Halal kitchen in Jogeshwari West, Mumbai. Founded in 1980, the restaurant cooks North Indian, Moghlai, Chinese, Mexican, and Mediterranean dishes over charcoal, clay, and open fire. Forty covers, one long table, one marble pass. Open daily, 12:00 – 23:30.

Medium 100 words

Since 1980, Hotel Bostan has cooked over four fires — a clay tandoor, a charcoal sigri, sealed handis, and a marble pass — in the heart of Jogeshwari West, Mumbai. The kitchen is purely Halal and draws on North Indian, Moghlai, Chinese, Mexican, and Mediterranean traditions. Forty covers are arranged around a single long table and a working pass, so guests watch the last thirty seconds of every plate come together. The result is a small, deliberate restaurant that behaves like the fire it cooks over: charcoal, salt, patience.

Long 150 words

Hotel Bostan — a Halal kitchen in Jogeshwari West, Mumbai. Founded in 1980, the restaurant has spent forty-five years cooking over four fires: a clay tandoor at 480°C, a charcoal sigri lit every afternoon at three, sealed clay handis that simmer for four unhurried hours, and a working marble pass where one chef finishes forty covers. The menu moves across North Indian, Moghlai, Chinese, Mexican, and Mediterranean traditions — from slow-cooked Kashmiri classics to wok-tossed noodles and whole burrata torn over heirloom tomato. Everything is cooked to order, over fire, without shortcuts. Produce arrives daily from Nashik and Pune, ghee is hand-churned in Rajasthan, sea salt is sourced from Kutch, and the herbs are grown on the roof, four floors above the dining hall. Open every day, 12:00 – 23:30. Reservations recommended.

The Story

Hotel Bostan — a Halal kitchen in Jogeshwari West, where the fire is old and the welcome older still. Since 1980, everything on the menu has begun within a few hours of this table, and nothing leaves the kitchen until it has met one of four fires.

For over four decades the dining hall has been built around a single long table and a working marble pass, so guests watch the last thirty seconds of every plate come together. Forty covers, one chef at the pass, one kitchen behind glass. It is a room that behaves, quietly, like the fire it cooks over: charcoal, salt, patience — and a welcome that never closes.

It is a kitchen that behaves, quietly, like the fire it cooks over: charcoal, salt, patience — and a welcome that never closes.

The menu moves across five traditions without ever losing the room's single voice. North Indian classics sit beside Awadhi kormas and Bihari seekh. A wok chapter shares the page with whole burrata torn over heirloom tomato. Nothing is fusion for its own sake — every plate has a reason to be here, and every one of them has met a fire.

Produce arrives daily from Nashik and Pune. Ghee is hand-churned in Rajasthan. Citrus comes from Nagpur, sea salt from Kutch, and the herbs — curry leaf, mint, coriander, bay — are grown on our own roof, four floors above the dining hall.

The plate that leads the southern chapter — and the most generously made dish on the menu.

The Mediterranean chapter at Bostan was born out of our Sunday brunch — one day a week where the fire rests and the table turns toward olive oil, warm bread, slow eggs, and mezze. Burrata Caprese is the plate that leads it: whole burrata from our dairy partner, heirloom tomatoes from Nashik, basil from the roof, oil from a single Sicilian grove, and a slow-aged balsamic finished at the pass.

The Dining Hall

The dining hall at Hotel Bostan

Forty covers across one long table and a run of two-tops, all facing a working marble pass. Candlelight, exposed brick, brass, and a barrel-vaulted ceiling that keeps the noise low and the hall warm.

The Alcove — twelve seats behind a closing door — is available for private dinners, tastings and press previews. Menus are written to the season and confirmed a week ahead.
